As a National Grid Technical Assistance vendor, JKMuir has provided energy audits of over 50 water and wastewater facilities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
As part of a pilot program, JKMuir has been working in conjunction with National Grid to evaluate the potential effect that the application of interior coatings has on the rebuild of water and wastewater pumping systems. Side-by-side pump efficiency testing has been completed to determine the baseline energy use prior to rebuilding the pumps. The Pump System Optimization Pilot is intended to educate end users and customers on the opportunities available for improving energy efficiency, quantify the savings and return on investment associated with various types of pump system improvements, evaluate technologies that may be available to prolong pump efficiency, and connect more municipal, industrial, and water/wastewater customers to energy incentive programs.
JKMuir performed a Pump System Optimization Study at the City of Fall River, Massachusetts Water Treatment Facility for potential pumping system improvements. Detailed evaluation of the hydraulic system with various pumping scenarios were investigated including recommendations for VFD installation and process operation modifications.
JKMuir is working with the City of Fall River to develop specifications for the implementation of the proposed modification to the finished water pumping system. The specifications outline the services and requirements for completing pump rebuilds, pump and motor replacements, and alignment and vibration testing. JKMuir will also provide engineering services associated with the development of bidding documents and construction phase services to manage project schedule, and monitor and verify conformance to the contract documents.
