- New York City (NYC) Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has set goals to reduce energy usage by 20% by 2025, reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 80% and accomplish a net energy neutral operation for the 14 wastewater resource recovery facilities (WRRF) located within NYC by 2050. JKMuir is part of the team working to develop a comprehensive plan to help the City achieve these goals, called the “Energy and Carbon Neutrality (ECN) Plan”.
- JKMuir is assessing the benefit of adding organic waste to biogas production and electric generation potential, along with a nation-wide survey of wastewater facilities currently implementing codigestion.
