The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) has established a “no stone left unturned” approach to facility upgrades and implementation, which includes energy reduction and sustainable building practices.
The JKMuir team is working with Hazen & Sawyer on the preliminary and detailed design for the Nut Island Odor Control Facility in Quincy, Massachusetts. The design includes odor control process equipment and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) improvements including a building management system with controls to cohesively mitigate odors and reduce energy use. JKMuir has produced and maintained an Energy Design Journal to continuously evaluate and update potential energy efficiency measures that may result in incentives through National Grid. JKMuir has also conducted assessments of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) to evaluate the environmental impact of the proposed design, construction, and facility performance.
