Policy and Sustainability


Developed “Green Alternatives” study that assessed energy conscious approach and incorporation of green principles and practices in the design of the Rocky Hill wastewater facility upgrade. The proposed facility modifications included significant efficiency improvements, which will result in electrical, fuel, and water usage reductions and long term cost savings. Operating energy consumption to be optimized through energy efficient process and system controls and through the specification of sustainable, energy efficient building materials and process equipment.

 

Assisted in the development of a multifaceted energy policy framework to allow state and local governments to respond to different types of energy emergencies in an effective manner. The focus of the Energy Assurance Initiative is to enhance the State’s preparedness and to integrate new energy portfolios, the incorporation of renewable energy and biofuels; and new applications, Smart Grid technology, into the plan. Responsibilities included the development of emergency preparedness protocols and procedures, incorporation of stakeholder input, and the development of emergency and public communications plans.
